A Globally Respected Pathway to University & Life

A rigorous and holistic two-year programme for Years 11–12 that balances academic excellence with personal growth and global citizenship.

International Baccalaureate Diploma
Programme (IBDP)

An internationally recognised education that develops thinkers, leaders, and lifelong learners.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is one of the two advanced-level programmes offered at Valistus for learners in Year Groups 11 and 12. Recognised by universities worldwide, the IB Diploma provides a challenging and well-rounded education that nurtures intellectual curiosity, academic depth, and personal development.

The IBDP encourages learners to become knowledgeable, inquiring, and compassionate global citizens prepared for the complexities of higher education and beyond.

Developing Global Citizens

Education that extends beyond academics to shape values, perspective, and purpose.
At the heart of the IBDP is a commitment to developing learners who think critically, communicate effectively, reflect deeply, and act responsibly. Through inquiry-based learning and global perspectives, students grow into confident individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to the world.

Subject Groups & Academic Structure

Academic Structure & Subject Groups

A balanced subject selection offering both depth and breadth.
Learners study six subjects, choosing: Three at Higher Level (HL) and Three at Standard Level (SL)
Subjects are selected from the following groups:
This structure ensures strong academic specialisation while maintaining interdisciplinary learning.

Beyond Academic Subjects

The IB Core – The Heart of the Diploma

Building reflective, research-driven, and socially responsible learners.
Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
Explores the nature of knowledge and encourages learners to question how we know what we claim to know.
A 4,000-word independent research project that develops advanced research, writing, and critical thinking skills.
Experiential learning through creative expression, physical activity, and meaningful community engagement.
This balanced structure ensures that learners not only gain depth in chosen subjects but also develop critical thinking, research, communication, and reflective skills essential for success in higher education and life.

Assessment & Examinations

Assessment & Evaluation
in the IBDP

A comprehensive approach that values process, performance, and progress.
Assessment in the IBDP is varied and continuous, combining internal and external evaluations to reflect a learner’s overall achievement.

Internal Assessments (IAs):

Account for approximately 20–30% of most subject grades and include oral presentations, coursework, investigations, and research tasks.

External Examinations:

Conducted at the end of Grade 12, these exams are set and marked by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) and are consistent worldwide.

Grading Criteria

Grading & Diploma Requirements

Clear benchmarks that uphold academic integrity and excellence.
Each subject is graded on a scale of 1 (lowest) to 7 (highest)
Up to 3 additional points are awarded for the Core components (TOK + EE)
To earn the IB Diploma, learners must:
  • Achieve a minimum of 24 points
  • Meet all subject and Core requirements
  • Successfully complete TOK, EE, and CAS

University Recognition & Global Pathways

A qualification trusted by leading universities worldwide.

IB Diploma results are widely accepted by universities across the globe. High scores may earn college credit or advanced placement in many institutions.
